This is not a group for beginners, but for those who have a reasonable knowledge of Spanish and wish to share and improve it through conversation, listening and reading.

Members’ abilities as regards command of the language vary quite a bit and we aim to have fun practising, learning and encouraging each other to improve our skills in a relaxed and friendly way. As such, we are a self-help, not a teaching, group and we are fortunate to have access to on-line resources with a big screen in our meeting room.

During our meetings we have time for conversation about current affairs, our interests, our holidays, etc. Otherwise, we try to vary the content:

• Sometimes we listen to podcasts, designed for students, containing short conversations about everyday activities in Spain.
• From time to time we read articles from news websites that give a Spanish perspective on topical issues.
• We also study on-line exercises and quizzes to improve or refresh our grammar and vocabulary.
• In addition, we are presently reading a collection of short stories in Advanced Spanish Short Stories: 20 Spanish Stories for Advanced Learners.

We are always on the lookout for more interesting resources to bring to the table.
