Time to spare? Not in full-time work?
Join our u3a to make new friends and enjoy exploring a wide variety of interests.

Hi
My name is Jerry Carlsson and I have had the honour to be Chair of our u3a since October 2023. Contrary to popular belief, any adult can join our u3a. Nevertheless, since most of our activities take place during the ‘working week’, our members are predominantly retired people.
We offer over 80 classes ranging from Art Appreciation to the various Walking Groups, most of which are included within your annual Membership Fee. There’s plenty of opportunity to meet new people, acquire knowledge, have fun and extend your horizons. Our maxim is Learn, Laugh, Live.
2025/2026 Start and Finish Dates

Walking Football - New Group
Our new WALKING FOOTBALL GROUP is confirmed and out of trial status. We are all enjoying it (apart from the aches and pains).
A group new to the u3a repertoire is Walking Football- 5 a side (indoors)
This group is in its infancy and looking for members, old and new, to join.
Although the group is called 5 a side, it will probably be up to 7 or 8 a side.
It will be held at Camberley Leisure Centre indoors in its main hall - so no weather worries.
Come and enjoy all the fun of football at a slower pace. This group is more about having fun and a kick about rather than taking it too seriously. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t be competitive.
5 a side football has fewer rules than traditional football without the physical contact, so is more suitable for an older generation of any ability. Most people haven’t played for several decades so it is new to us all.
If you are interested, please email Martin who can be contacted from the group page.
Picture from Summer Picnic at Mytchett Canal Centre on 20th Sept 2025

Some of our members dodged a few raindrops to have a game of petanque, after our picnic at the Mytchett Canal Centre on Saturday 20th.
It was hardly "summer" and we were only a small group, but we were there!

It doesn't cost much to become a member of Farnborough and District u3a. Click on our Join Us page to find out more about our low-cost structure. Whilst our annual Membership fee is higher than some u3a's, most of our groups have no further charges for the hire of venues.
All members, plus non-members who would like to find out more about the u3a, are welcome to attend our monthly Coffee Mornings and Open Meetings.
Free Taster Sessions
Visitors and prospective members are welcome to attend 2 taster sessions of 3 different activities, subject to the agreement of paid tutors where applicable, after which they are asked to subscribe to the organisation before continuing with any of our activities.
Please contact the Group Secretary or Leader to find out about up to date availability of places - this especially applies to the fitness groups.
Monthly Coffee Morning
We hold a free coffee morning in the foyer of the North Camp Methodist Church on the 3rd Wednesday of every month during the term, between 10:00 and 12:00. All members, plus non-members who would like to find out more about the u3a, are welcome to attend.
Monthly Open Meeting
We hold an open meeting with a visiting speaker at 15:00 on the last Friday of the month, during the Autumn and Spring terms, at Farnborough College of Technology. As with the coffee mornings, all members, plus non-members who would like to find out more about the u3a, are welcome to attend.
