This welcoming group is for anyone with an interest in looking at art, discussing it and learning more about art and artists.  The emphasis is on talks to show the group examples of a specific artist or period.

None of us is an expert, but a few are prepared to stand up and give a talk to the group, usually covering a specific artist.  We arrange the programme to cover a wide range of periods of paintings, sculpture and prints, so that hopefully there is something to interest everyone.  We have time for a short discussion afterwards.

You may be looking for a style of painting to cover a space on a wall at home, or you may be mystified by modern art and want to find out why the artist has done it and what he or she is trying to tell us by painting it.

Occasionally we have a series of short talks so that anyone can say, in 5 or 10  minutes, why they like a particular artist.  At other times we show a video from one of the TV series that are worth watching.

Anyone who likes looking at art and would like to learn more about it in an easy and painless way is welcome. No prior knowledge or expertise is required or expected.
